🚨 DISASTER EMERGENCY DECLARED & DOWNTOWN SNOW CLEANUP UPDATE
Due to the severe winter storm and significant snow accumulation across the borough, Freeland Borough has officially declared a Disaster Emergency. This declaration allows the Borough to respond quickly and effectively to protect public safety, maintain essential services, and carry out emergency snow removal operations.
❄️ Snow Ban Status
The Reverse Snow Ban remains in effect until further notice.
- Parking is permitted on the ODD-NUMBERED side of streets during the Reverse Snow Ban unless otherwise posted.
- As cleanup operations continue, the Borough may temporarily return to a full Snow Ban for cleanup purposes.
- Residents will be notified should this occur.
Please continue to monitor Borough announcements and be prepared to move vehicles as directed.
🏙️ Downtown Business Overlay District (DBOD) Cleanup
Emergency snow removal operations in the Downtown Business Overlay District (DBOD) will begin at 5:00 PM today.
Due to heavy snowfall and narrow roadway conditions, these operations are necessary to allow for safe and effective curb-to-curb cleanup.
- Centre Street will be the primary focus of this operation.
- Temporary parking restrictions will be enforced to allow snow removal equipment to operate safely.
- Residents, employees, and business owners in the DBOD must follow posted signage and Borough notifications regarding where parking is permitted.
🚗 Vehicles parked in restricted areas may be ticketed and/or towed to ensure emergency snow removal can proceed.
📢 Ongoing Updates
Conditions remain dynamic. The Borough will continue to keep residents informed as the situation develops, including any changes to snow bans, parking restrictions, or cleanup operations.
🙏 Thank You for Your Cooperation
We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our residents and business community as our crews work to restore safe travel conditions throughout the Borough.
Stay safe,
Freeland Borough Council
