Freeland Borough Recognizes Eagle Scout Project by Ethen Yanac

Freeland Borough proudly recognizes Life Scout Ethen Yanac for his outstanding commitment to improving our community. As part of his Eagle Scout Project, Ethen took on the significant task of restoring and enhancing the three Welcome to Freeland signs. With the help of over a dozen volunteers, he dedicated 186 hours to this effort, ensuring these landmarks are both more visible and better maintained for years to come.

His project included:

  • Clearing overgrown brush and trees around the westbound Route 940 and East Butler Road signs
  • Making major structural repairs, including replacing lattice and reinforcing frames
  • Installing solar-powered lighting on all three signs for improved nighttime visibility
  • Coordinating with local organizations to replace deteriorating signage with updated versions

Ethen’s dedication and leadership have made a lasting impact on our town, and we are grateful for his efforts. In recognition of his hard work and contribution to the community, Freeland Borough will formally honor Ethen at our next borough meeting.

Please join us in thanking Ethen and his volunteers for their service to Freeland!

What a great Eagle Scout project, and what a good job done by this band of volunteers! The photos show that the signs look wonderful. GREAT service for Freeland, thanks and congrats to all.
