Storm Water and Paving Work Resuming May 14th, 2024

Please be advised that storm water and paving work will be resuming on May 14th on the 400 block of Washington Street (between South Street and Luzerne Street) during the morning of Tuesday 05/14/2024. Parking will be restricted on BOTH sides of Washington Street Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.

The contractor has already posted signs on traffic cones, and motorists in the area should exercise extreme caution, expect delays, and consider an alternate route. Please note that the schedule is subject to change based on a variety of factors including weather, equipment, manpower, and material availability, and that vehicles parked within the restricted area can be ticketed and/or towed.

Freeland Borough will be implementing a new SMS(text-only) notification system to communicate with our residents. This system will be used for communicating snow bans, street sweeping, and critical alerts to the public.

Secretary’s Office Closed (3/25 – 3/29)

The Freeland Borough Secretary’s Office will be closed from Monday March 25th through Friday March 29th and will reopen on Monday April 1st at 9:30am. Check or money order payments for Storm Water or Garbage can be placed in the drop box at 526 Fern Street or mailed to PO Box 148 Freeland, PA 18224.

2024 Spring Street Sweeping Schedule

THIS SCHEDULE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED UPON WEATHER CONDITIONS AND EMPLOYEE AVAILABILITY*

There will be NO PARKING on the following streets between 7:00am and 3:00pm on the scheduled day, and violators will be subject to ticketing and/or towing:

Monday 4/15/2024: From Walnut Street South to the Borough line (MMI) – The ODD side of Ridge, Centre, Washington, Sabol, Adams, Main, Luzerne, Carbon, Pine, and Front Streets, from Graham Street to Ridge Street

Tuesday 4/16/2024: From Walnut Street South to the Borough line (MMI) – The EVEN side of Ridge, Centre, Washington, Sabol, Adams, Main, Luzerne, Carbon, Pine, and Front Streets, from Graham Street to Ridge Street

Wednesday 4/17/2024: From Walnut Street North to Schwabe Street (Freeland Village) – The ODD side of Ridge, Centre, Washington, Pine, Laurel, North, Foster, Yale, Schwabe, Dee (“Schwabe Court”), Cunnius, and Birkbeck Streets

Rain Dates/Rescheduling: To Be Announced beginning Monday 4/29/2024. A small amount of precipitation will not prevent sweeping, but large downpours may necessitate canceling a day(s). In that case the established schedule will resume, and any Streets missed will be rescheduled after 4/24/2024.

*The public is reminded to move vehicles on scheduled sweeping days from 7:00am until 3:00pm, and that they may sweep their sidewalks onto the streets, but are asked to NOT make piles*
